When I play Petz 4 I miss the minigames, the changeable size of the supply case and how you could customize it a little, the new default breeds/items/playscenes, and most of all the nursery and litters of multiple babies all from Petz 5. I think there's a lot I enjoy seperately about each of them that I miss when playing the other. I grew up with Petz 5 and have a physical copy so it's very special to me, but I got Petz 4 through a download later because on my laptop I have to play with a smaller resolution to fix graphical issues I get in Petz 5, so running 4 just saves me the hassle of changing that every time. What are your thoughts? What's your preference, and why did the community move to 4 instead of 5? Is it easier to hex? Have people (reasonably) sworn vengeance against Ubisoft? I remember the mini games were obnoxious (lots of scruffing and dragging around petz :( ) but I just moved those area files out of the folder and didn't think twice about them. It looks like folks are mostly playing Petz4, so I was curious about the history of this switch in the community. In playing last night I realized that some of the features I remembered and liked were from Petz5: more toy space, litters of multiple pets, and being able to shut the supply case down even smaller (so it didn't take up as much real estate on the 1024x758 screen). My disks didn't even have to leave their stor-all box :D Downloaded the Windows Runtime, the exe, and bam. I was *floored* by how easy it was to get Petz4 up and running. Thankfully I pushed on, found the sub, and found Yakibo's website. I got the bug and looked up Petz on Good old Games, only to find that it's wishlisted (and not available there). I haven't played in over a decade, and I came across the 2015 article in "The Mary Sue" called "Lost to Time: Gaming’s Forgotten Petz Subculture and the Women Who Shaped It". First and foremost, I'm so excited to find this subreddit.
